The second annual survey of Local Compacts is now open. Compact Voice are encouraging voluntary and community organisations to take 10 minutes to fill in the survey – and are offering everyone who completes the survey the chance to win an Amazon Kindle.
Charities that are based outside London and meet the eligibility criteria could receive a bursary to attend a CES training course at Charities Evaluation Services (CES) training venue in London.
CES have recently been awarded a grant from The Lankelly Chase Foundation to offer a bursary scheme for non-London organisations to attend CES training. The bursary can be used to attend either a one-day or two-day course.
On 9th February 2012 a mix of BME and other specialist voluntary and community organisations, generic VCOs and public sector organisations gathered at Voice4Change England’s Big Society and Equality event held in partnership with One North West.
The Chancellor described the 2012 Budget as one that “rewards work”, “unashamedly backs business” and keeps to the deficit plan.
In terms of judging the Budget’s fairness, the key test is being portrayed as the changes to the tax system and which segment of taxpayers has been squeezed or not squeezed.

Volunteering takes place in all areas of our society, but sometimes there are barriers to different groups working together. In particular, members of black, Asian and other minority ethnic groups may experience barriers to volunteering outside of their own community.
Our climate is changing. Here in the UK we’re facing warmer, wetter winters and hotter, drier summers, with more chances of extreme weather such as heatwaves and heavy rainfall. As a consequence, we’ll face greater risks of drought and flooding, and other knock-on effects. Meanwhile, other countries across the globe are facing their own climate change challenges.

DIY approach to Integration fails to tackle race inequalities
Voice4Change England was dismayed to read the Government’s cross-departmental approach to integration: creating the conditions for integration, published today.
Is there an elephant in the room? If we live in a post-racial society, why do certain ethnic groups continue to experience disadvantage?
This seminar series, launched in November 2011 to coincide with the retrial into the murder of Stephen Lawrence, will debate these questions and seek to identify solutions to persistent and emerging inequalities faced by BAME children, young people and their families.
